Hi, my name is Dave and I run my own successful window cleaning business called ShineTime in Birmingham, England.

The reason I’ve created this website is because I found that there was a lack of free information on setting up your own window cleaning business when I first started.

Instead I found there are a lot of opportunist window cleaners on the internet who are selling their knowledge (you can’t blame them really can you).

I realise when you’re setting up your own business funds are tight, so I’ve decided to give my expertise away for free.

The reason for this generosity you might ask? Well window cleaning helped me out of a tight spot: I was working in a dead-end factory for minimum wage and wasn’t too happy about the situation.

I finally decided to start my own window cleaning business, and after a lot of trial and error my business became successful. I want to help other people thinking of starting their own window cleaning company avoid some of the mistakes I made when I first started by doing this informative website.

Let’s get one thing straight, being a window cleaner is a horrible job: in Winter you feel like your hands are going to drop off, if you’re working by yourself it can become very lonely, and sometimes your customers can give you hassle. As you’re the head of the company you’re the one who has to deal with troublesome customers because there’s nobody to pass the blame onto.

It’s not easy either, most people seem to think it’s just a case of buying a bucket, getting a chammy and you’re away. Sadly there’s a lot of competition out there, it’s highly likely you’ll find all the best areas where you live (the posh ones that make you the most money) are taken.

You have to be prepared to work hard to build up your round and be able to discipline yourself because there’s no boss to kick you up the arse when you feel like having an impromptu day off. It’s very easy to slip into the habit of thinking: I can’t be bothered with it today. or I think I’ll knock off early .

It’s good to have the freedom that only comes with being your own boss, but it still doesn’t mean you can spend every other day in bed. Disappointing I know, but that’s life.

I want to make it clear that not everybody is suited to self-employment, some people need a person watching over them to make them work. If this is a description of you then you probably shouldn’t bother wasting anymore of your time on this site. Instead, you may want to consider looking for other cleaning jobs first to get some experience and see if a window cleaning career is really for you.

Despite all the drawbacks however, I believe if you’re desperate, i.e. stuck in a job you absolutely hate, or unemployed and on the dole, then window cleaning could be for you because it’s a realistic way of making a respectable living for a person who has no other options, just don’t expect to be driving around in a Bentley anytime soon.

The Clinical Nutrition Certification Board (CNCB) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax-exempt certification agency which provides professional training, examination and certification for health care practitioners.

The discipline of Human Clinical Nutrition applies principles derived from current biochemical and physiological scientific knowledge for the purpose of promoting optimal health while recognizing biochemical individuality. The Certified Clinical Nutritionist assesses a person s nutritional needs to achieve normal physiological function. Assessment includes the use of appropriate test and observations such as case history, anthropomorphic measurements, physical signs, laboratory tests, and nutrition/lifestyle analysis to determine an educational nutrition program. Assessment also provides the basis for referral to a licensed physician, or other health care professional.

The educational protocol may include, among other information, nutrition / lifestyle modification, nutritive supplementation, understanding of physiological/biochemical pathways, and evoking of regenerative processes.

The Purpose of Certification

The Certified Clinical Nutritionist (CCN) Examination establishes reputable standards of excellence.

Creation of a quality examination, based on a validated scope of practice which appropriately represents the field of clinical nutrition.

Candidate access to the broad scope of clinical nutrition training and a mechanism for recertification every five years, recognizing continued competency in the field.

The CCN Examination Candidate must:

Whether on the sidelines at a high school football game or in the dugout during a professional baseball game, Athletic Trainers are part of the first line of defense against athletic injury. The skills of Athletic Trainers have been sought and valued by sports medicine specialists and other physicians for more than 60 years. More than 50 percent of athletic trainers work outside of school athletic settings; they provide services to people of all ages. Athletic trainers may work in physician offices as physician extenders, or may work in rural and urban hospitals, hospital emergency rooms, urgent and ambulatory care centers, military hospitals, physical therapy clinics, secondary schools, colleges/universities, youth leagues, commercial settings and professional sports teams.

As the U.S. continues to focus on reducing the effects of obesity and other chronic diseases, it is important that people have access to health care professionals who can support lifelong, safe physical activity. Athletic trainers are an important part of this health care workforce, especially as the demand for workers is projected to greatly increase over the next decade.

Program Highlights

The Athletic Training program is rooted in theoretical knowledge and the clinical application of current procedures and techniques in sport injury management and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).

The Curriculum

This 42-credit program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) and prepares the athletic training student with the necessary academic and clinical experiences to sit for the National Athletic Trainer’s Association (NATA) Board of Certification (BOC) examination. The entry-level program is designed for individuals who may have an undergraduate degree in another field, but would now like to become a BOC certified athletic trainer. The program includes courses in injury prevention, recognition, assessment and immediate care of athletic injuries; health care administration; and professional development and responsibility.

The Athletic Training program is a full-time two year graduate degree DAY program with classes beginning in mid-August. Theory and laboratory classes tend to be taught on Tuesday and Thursday mornings with daily clinical rotations occurring every afternoon and weekend days. Two hundred hours of clinical experience must be completed each full semester while in the program. This relates to an average of 15 to 20 hours per week.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, employment of athletic trainers is expected to grow by 30 percent between 2010 and 2020, much faster than the average for all occupations.

American CPR Training Affiliate Instructor, Tech Sergeant Earl Scott, returned from a 7 months deployment at Al Udeid Air Force base overseas in Qatar. He is originally from Brooklyn, NY but resides in Philadelphia, PA. Friends and family were anxious for his arrival. His family was told to meet at the base for an orientation about what they should expect when their loved one came home. To their surprise- Earl was already home!

On top of being a Tech Sergeant and American CPR Training Affiliate Instructor, Earl is also a teacher, a coach, and the athletic Director at Holmesburg Christian Academy. He cares about his students and made sure he took the time to also explain to them what it was like and what he did overseas.     Chambers UK launched its 2013 UK guide on Thursday and rather than simply reporting who has been singled out for excellence, we thought we’d ask high-ranking law firms for some additional information; the kind you don’t usually find in a legal directory.

    In a bid to discover more about the personalities of leading legal businesses, we invited them to describe themselves by reference to dogs, biscuits and cartoon characters. As you might imagine, some (okay, most) were not playing, but a few were willing to show a lighter side.     We asked some serious questions too: about women partners; trainee in-take; and the starting salary of trainees. The table above lists the top 20 firms by number of rankings in Chambers and shows the silly as well as the serious information provided to us by some of them. One striking thing about the data is that regional firms, such as DWF, Osborne Clarke and Brodies do as well, if not better, in the rankings than law firms traditionally regarded as the most prestigious in the UK.
