Classes of this nature could tend to be dry, the instructor did a great job of presenting the information in an interesting manner. I took the course on line and they made sure that we had ways of communicating questions to the opresenter.

I had to come here to attend a 3 day course to get my 440 license for my job. Before coming here, all my other coworkers who had previously attended had tons of great things to say about this place. They said it would be especially great if we had Diana (who is the president of the school) as our teacher. Lucky for us, myself and my coworker who attended together got to be in her class. She really does a good job at making what could be a dry, boring experience into something actually funny and entertaining. She knows her stuff and does a great job at teaching thoroughly. Even has tons of funny stories to share. I learned a lot. Just wish we had time to ask more questions sometimes, but she kept us on a very packed schedule (although she was quite generous with allocating breaks). Two tips: bring a jacket, it s freezing I m here. And bring your own coffee if you palm on drinking anyway. The coffee they have in the break room so pretty bad. Even Diana herself warned us. Overall great experience and would recommend it to others

Coming back from an injury when it seems nothing is fair in life, the people of San Francisco makes everything easier. I moved up here without knowing what to expect but the transition was one I wasn t expecting. It s strange I have to get used to people actually helping me. Thank you SF health.

SHORT. you re screwed if you had a city MRA and did the right thing and enrolled in Covered CA (Obamacare). two stars for friendly, very sympathetic staff. LONG. staff is friendly, able to explain new Covered CA changes, and enrolled me (Thanks Kersti!); Otherwise a very frustrating and unhelpful experience. Waited weeks for an appointment, which was scheduled too late to change my Covered CA enrollment. Funds deposited by my employer in November were placed in a city general fund instead of my preexisting MRA and are not available for my Nov Dec premiums or co-pays. 2017 Benefit cut almost in half, covers premiums but not prescriptions co-pays! because I did the right thing by signing up through Covered CA. Quick to get an appointment, the people were very informative and helped me get my insurance and other paper work right after i moved back to the city.

Best eCommerce Shopping Cart Software in 2017

This page includes my recommendations for the best shopping cart software as well as a few shopping cart related articles. Be sure to also check out our guide on how to migrate an eCommerce site if you re thinking about switching carts. It was last updated on December 22, 2016.

Hosted Shopping Carts

Hosting shopping carts are hosted by the company who created them. You pay a monthly fee and in return the company deals with all of the hosting, security, updates, etc so you can get on with the business of running your store.

The two downsides to these types of eCommerce shopping carts are the monthly cost and the reduced flexibility. But in today s world, hosted carts have become sophisticated enough where both of these are fairly negligible. Apps and custom scripts allow you to do a lot of customization and the monthly price often is lower than what you d pay long-term to a developer to maintain your own shopping cart software on your own server.

Heading into 2017, the most popular hosted cart by a long shot is Shopify. And I d argue for good reasons! In my opinion they have the best team, product and ecosystem of apps out there.

Disclosure: I ve worked with Shopify in the past and the link above is an affiliate link, meaning I ll get a commission if you sign up with them. But I also practice what I preach and genuinely believe they re the best. I recently spent $50,000 to migrate my own store to them.

Here s a list of other hosted eCommerce shopping carts and some brief thoughts on some:

  • Shopify My personal favorite in the shopping cart space
  • SparkPay Formerly known as Americommerce before it was purchased by CapitalOne and rebranded. Has a strong feature set by a fairly limited eco-system of apps and integrations.
  • BigCommerce Well known but have had some problems with support recently and have dramatically increased their pricing. We ve seen a lot of people in the private community flee them for Shopify.
  • Volusion Fading in popularity and a bit antiquated, but good for catalogs with lots of SKUs.
  • LemonStand Highly customizable hosted cart built with developers designers in mind.
  • 3DCart
  • Pinnacle Cart

Self-Hosted Open Source Carts

A self-hosted shopping cart is software you need to host and maintain on your own servers. It s 100% customizable because you have access to the source code which is a big advantage. But it s also much more more work to maintain and keep secure because no one else is updating, patching or maintaining it.

Hosted eCommerce shopping carts have become so good (and so affordable) that I d recommend them to just about anyone under $1 million in sales who is seriously trying to build their business. But they definitely have their place for highly technical entrepreneurs, store owners with very customized needs or larger businesses.

Magento is probably the most well known open-source self-hosted cart and the most commonly used one by private community members. It s also the most complex and difficult to manage. I ve talked with dozens and dozens of store owners who have been migrating away from it in the last 12 months as hosted options like Shopify have become more appealing in comparison.

WooCommerce is the 2nd most popular self-hosted cart in our Community It is actually a WordPress plug-in that turns the wildly popular CRM into an eCommerce shopping cart. It s definitely much easier to administer than Magento but not quite as feature rich.

If I was starting a store on a self-hosted platform today it d be OpenCart. It has a reputation as having a nice feature set while remaining lightweight and easy to administer and customize. You would need to have (or be willing to hire) some technical capabilities but I think it s a very appealing option.

Here s a full list of popular self-hosted carts:

  • Magento Extremely customizable and feature rich, but wildly complex.
  • WooCommerce Build on WordPress and easy to install and get up-and-running.
  • Open Cart A very clean interface, light design and good feature set.
  • PrestaShop
  • Ultra Cart
  • Ubercart
  • VirtueMart
  • Zencart osCommerce Built from the same architecture, these two carts are long outdated and are being replaced by much better options. I used Zencart to build my first eCommerce store. While it was a great option at the time, I wouldn t recommend ittoday.

Nearly all of the shopping cart software mentioned above is written in PHP. If you re a programmer in a different language, here are some non-PHP based options:

Life Insurance Policy Locator

TDI can help you find a missing life insurance policy or annuity.

How it works

  1. Fill out the Consumer Request Form with basic information about the deceased person for whom you’re trying to find a life insurance policy or annuity contract.
  2. Each month, TDI will give the information from the request forms to the companies voluntarily participating in the service .
  3. The companies will search their records to determine whether they have life insurance policies or annuity contracts in the name of the deceased.
  4. The companies will contact you directly if they find a policy or contract and you’re authorized to receive the information.

Who can get information

To get information about a life insurance policy or annuity contract you must be

  • the legal representative of the deceased person’s estate
  • otherwise legally entitled to information about a policy (for example, the policy’s beneficiary).

How long it takes

In most cases, you should learn whether a participating company was able to locate a policy within 90 days of the date you submitted your request to us. If you don’t get a response from a company within 90 days of your request, it means that either the participating companies didn’t find a policy or annuity contract in the deceased’s name or you aren’t eligible to get this information.

What the companies look for

The companies will search only for policies or contracts that were in force at the time of the insured’s death. This means that the insured must have kept up premium payments, or that the policy had enough cash value to cover the cost of insurance after the payments stopped. Companies will also search for policies or contracts that, within 12 months before the date of death, were terminated, lapsed, surrendered, or transferred.

More tips for tracing missing or old life insurance policies

TDI has no way of knowing whether any person has life insurance and with which company. We can, however, offer some tips for continuing your search.

  • Examine your relative’s bank statements and check registers for payments to life insurance companies. Life insurers commonly require payment of premiums by bank drafts. These payments appear on monthly bank statements.
  • Look for insurance agents in your relative’s address book or personal phone directory. The agent who wrote your relative’s car, home or health insurance also may have sold him or her a life insurance policy.
  • Contact the employee benefits offices at your relative’s former employers. Sometimes people buy group life insurance at work.
  • Review your relative’s income tax records to see if he or she reported interest income on a cash value life insurance policy.

If a life insurance company knows that an insured has died but it cannot find the policy beneficiaries within three years, it must send the death benefit to the state Comptroller’s unclaimed property fund. The rightful owners of the life insurance proceeds can reclaim them from the Comptroller. For more information, go to the Comptroller’s unclaimed property Web site, www.cpa.state.tx.us/up/ .

Just be aware that for a life insurance policy to be valid, your relative had to keep it in force by paying the premiums. Some cash value policies become “paid up” after a person pays premiums for a specific number of years. However, people often cancel policies or let them lapse but keep the discontinued policies in their records.

If you find a life insurance policy for a deceased relative but can’t locate the company, you can get help from TDI by calling the Consumer Help Line at 1-800-252-3439. You can also use the Company Lookup feature on TDI’s Web site. Profiles of active companies include addresses and phone numbers. Profiles of inactive companies include histories that let you trace mergers, acquisitions and reinsurance agreements that transferred their policies to other companies.

Dr. Estrada was great. I went in because my vision is not what it was once was so I wanted to get an eye exam and have some questions answered. She was very informative and patient with me. I also had some questions on lasik but I was not a candidate for the surgery. The entire process was easy and harmless and all my questions were answered. The office is really new and clean as well.

The staff at California LASIK Center was amazing! They accommodated my busy schedule and answered all my questions. Dr. Schultz rocks. He personally re-checked all my measurements prior to surgery. Loving life without contacts glasses. Thank you Dr. Schultz =) Staff.

I chose this center over two other centers I got consultations at. The staff are professional, knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly. Sometimes they so knowledgable, they give information a bit too quickly, but they are very receptive to answering any questions and repeating anything. The customer service was great and were responsive to phone calls. My eyes are healing well, they did a great job! Dr. Shultz was comforting during the procedure. The facility is well lit and clean. I also liked that they only offer the best technology, no messing around with the cheaper alternatives. Other places give an option for older technology for a cheaper price. The included checkups are quick. I m very happy with my eyesight!

The staff in the lasik department were very helpful and efficient. It was very easy to book my follow up appointments and the surgery. The doctor was very patient and confident. There is nothing better than being able to wake up and see perfect!

The lasik tech has over 20 years of experience and waited for me long after work hours to come in and get tested. He was upfront in telling me I m not a candidate, but he had put in over an hours worth of time doing a manual and a machine screening to make sure. He also gave me other advice on the procedure based on the results I d be able to achieve and I greatly appreciated his honesty and putting me as a customer first.

Fabulous place. The staff was amazing. Sammy was able to schedule me for a consultation on a day they don t do consults because of my work schedule. Christina was able to clear her schedule so she can meet with me. I was able to schedule my lasik surgery within the following week. The day of the surgery went super smooth. Sometimes they so knowledgable, they give information a bit too quickly, but they are very receptive to answering any questions and repeating anything. The customer service was great and were responsive to phone calls. My eyes are healing well, they did a great job! Dr. Shultz was comforting during the procedure. The facility is well lit and clean. I also liked that they only offer the best technology, no messing around with the cheaper alternatives. Other places give an option for older technology for a cheaper price. The included checkups are quick. I m very happy with my eyesight!

The lasik tech has over 20 years of experience and waited for me long after work hours to come in and get tested. He was upfront in telling me I m not a candidate, but he had put in over an hours worth of time doing a manual and a machine screening to make sure. He also gave me other advice on the procedure based on the results I d be able to achieve and I greatly appreciated his honesty and putting me as a customer first.

Fabulous place. The staff was amazing. Sammy was able to schedule me for a consultation on a day they don t do consults because of my work schedule. Christina was able to clear her schedule so she can meet with me. I was able to schedule my lasik surgery within the following week.
The day of the surgery went super smooth. The staff and Dr. Shultz were amazing. I can see clearly now.

So happy with my LASIK results! Amazing surgeon and staff. Definitely recommend them. Make sure to schedule a FREE consultation to see if you are a good candidate.I regret waiting all these years to do LASIK, not to mention recovery time was quick and easy! By the next day i was seeing clearly and going about my daily routine! I highly recommend this place to anyone who is interested in LASIK!
