Snowed in! North Dakota door opens to a wall of the white stuff as polar plunge sees Chicago breaking snowfall record and the Midwest and West as much as 35 degrees colder than usual

By Jennifer Newton for MailOnline and James Wilkinson For Dailymail.com 09:15 BST 07 Dec 2016, updated 19:34 BST 08 Dec 2016

  • The Midwest and West have been affected by a viciously icy polar plunge
  • A Glenburn, North Dakota home saw snow so high it covered the front door
  • Nearly 300 miles of the I-94 were shut down in the state due to heavy snowfall
  • Chicago has seen record-breaking snow and the closure of its O’Hare airport
  • Forecasters predict the heavy snowfall and cold temperatures will continue
  • And it’s expected to hit the East Coast on Friday as it spreads across the US

Residents of a North Dakota home opened their front door to find a seven-foot wall of snow perfectly molded onto the side of the house Tuesday, after a ‘polar plunge’ left the West and Midwest 35 degrees colder than usual for this time of year.

Lauren Otradovec of Glenburn, North Dakota, posted a video on Facebook showing an unlucky resident having to crawl out through the feet-high snow as a blizzard swirled overhead. Nearly 300 miles of the I-94 were shut down in the state.

That chill was felt as far away as Illinois, where almost 300 flights were cancelled at Chicago O’Hare International Airport after a blanket of snow fell across the state.

Scroll down for video

Residents of this Glenburn, North Dakota home opened their front door to find that heavy snows brought by the polar plunge had molded perfectly onto the outside

Otradovec’s video shows the scene a little after some of the blockage was cleared away, as her pal Natasha Harvey struggles through thigh-high powder.

‘I’m scared!’ she jokes as she plods on out into the frigid air and disappears behind a whirl of white powder.

Scenes like those were replicated all over the West and Midwest, where temperatures were as much as 35 degrees below the normal level for this time of year.

Some 293 miles of the I-94 was closed from Dickinson to Fargo, according to The Weather Channel. and both lanes of the I-29 were closed between Fargo and the Canadian border.

And the cold will keep coming, as strong winds push wind chill to below zero. Sub-zero conditions are expected in the Dakotas on Thursday and Friday mornings.

The cold also fell as far off as Illinois, where Chicago endured heavy snowfall and the coldest temperatures since mid-February.

That caused chaos on the roads and airlines were forced to cancel almost 300 flights from Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

Illinois state climatologist Jim Angel has confirmed the snow at the airport was the heaviest accumulation for a fall-winter season’s first snow fall in Chicago.

He told WBJC. ‘It was the greatest first-of-the-season daily total for Chicago O’Hare Airport.

‘That’s the biggest one-day jump to the winter snowfall season.’

Sunday’s snowfall saw 6.4in fall at O’Hare, breaking the previous season record of 4.8in in November 1940.

Nearby Quad City saw 9in of snow while Morrison, Illinois recorded the highest total of 9.4in.

The World Series-winning Chicago Cubs put out a video on Tuesday of the snow in Chicago, showing it covering the team’s famous Wrigley Field home.

The video, which was shot with a drone, started out high above the stadium, before flying down to field-level for a closer look at the freezing conditions.

It comes as more snowfall is forecast for today with the mercury dipping even further on Thursday and Friday.

Temperatures aren’t expect to reach the mid 30s and the wind chill factor will be in single digits.

And there will be no respite into the weekend as a second round of snow could be dumped on Sunday and into Monday.

But it is not just Illinois that will be battling the cold snap.

The wintry weather is expected to stick around next week as well, with near freezing and below temperatures forecast in New York, Ohio, Missouri, Massachusetts, Michigan and Tennessee until Thursday.

Trains tracks in Walla Walla, Washington, are almost entirely covered in snow. More wintry weather is expected in the state in the coming days

But the cities to cop the cold in the next few days are those across the Northern High Plains in Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, Texas and Wyoming.

It is forecast Friday could be the coldest day in Dallas since winter 2015.

Heavy snow is also expected in the next few days in the Upper Mississippi Valley, and across the Appalachians.

The wintry spell could create headaches for travelers across parts of the east coast, with Accuweather expecting slippery and potentially snowy conditions on Interstate 80, I-81 and

It comes after it was forecast on Monday the arrival of massive cold wilds from the west started to push temperatures down from coast to coast.

‘Frigid air from the depths of the Arctic will plunge into the United States as the jet stream (a fast-river of air along which storms travel) drops southward,’ the online forecaster stated.

The northwest and northeast are expected to cop the worst of the snow from the polar plunge this week, as this map shows

A more detailed snow forecast breaks down where snow is likely to fall in the northwest, and how much will hit the ground

The freezing winds are expected to impact temperatures in the Midwest on Wednesday and Thursday, before the east coast cops it on Friday.

From El Paso, Texas to Jacksonville, Florida temperatures will barely climb to or above 50 degrees later this week.

Across the northern Florida Peninsula, temperatures could possibly drop below freezing.

‘For many places in the East, temperatures on Friday will be lower than at any point during last year’s unusually warm December,’ Thompson said.

More polar plunges are expected to follow next week as the cold snap locks in.

This document contains some of the same elements of a prospectus, but is often much less detailed and thus requires significantly less resources. The Company Description is approved by the exchange and not the local FSA. Issuers whose securities are already admitted to trading on First North or a regulated market is exempt from parts of the Company Description, in essence only requiring it to describe the terms and conditions of the bonds.

Accounting Standards
The annual report shall be prepared in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles in the company’s home country.

North American Bancard – Tips for Giving the Best Business Gifts #find #business

#business gifts

#

Many business owners send greeting cards and corporate gifts to show gratitude to clients and business partners. These gifts are often useless and end up being thrown away or regifted. The purpose of the gift is to standout and remind the individual about you or your brand long after the holidays.

Here are eight tips, from Entrepreneur. to help you select a gift that will leave an impression:

1. Make it useful. Give people something they can use throughout the year. Desk calendars, pens, small flashlights and letter openers are great examples of items every business person could use.

2. Give your product. Skip the shopping and extra spending, and give your product as a gift. It allows you to show gratitude while promoting your business.

3. Make a donation. Create goodwill by making charitable donations in the names of your business partners. An added bonus is the tax writeoff.

4. Look for exchanges. Ask other businesses about exchanging products and services. This will reduce costs, result in better gifts and serve as a marketing tool. Some companies you may want to talk to include movie theaters, restaurants, coffee shops and entertainment venues.

5. Personalize it. Include your business name on the corporate gifts you give. There is nothing wrong with branding the items you give to your business partners.

6. Spread it around. Give a gift that employees can benefit from. They are often left out while the owners and managers get all the corporate gifts.

7. Keep it simple. While it can be tempting, it is best not to go overboard. Remember that gift giving is a marketing strategy and does not need to cost you a lot of money. Be sincere and tactful in your gift choices.

8. Keep it healthy. Everyone loves treats, but too many sweet snacks go around during the holidays. There is no need to add to the cookies and chocolates your business partners are already receiving. The fall from a sugar rush can negatively impact businesses. If you want to send something edible, make sure it’s healthy.

Gift giving during the holiday season is a great gesture for business partners. Be sure to be reasonable, choosing items that are useful, cost-effective and serve to market your business.
