Some People Have a Therapist. I Have a Business Coach.

We all have issues. For many people, those issues tend to be related to personal goals and problems, such as relationships and the like. For me, my anxiety, focus, goals and frustrations seem to mostly be around business.

So, while many people hire therapists, I have the business equivalent: a business coach.

I have been working with my coach, Alan Roby. for close to six years. We meet via phone for an hour, usually twice a month. He has helped me to not only transition myself from investment banker to a media and entrepreneurial hybrid, but he is a constant source of support.

While coaches can vary in price — from less than $100 to several hundred dollars or more per session — price shouldn t be the deciding factor. You want to find a coach who understands you and your business and that you are comfortable with, but also one that will push back on you, too. Hiring a yes man (or woman) won t produce a good return for your investment.

Getting recommendations can be a good place to start on your search for a coach. Also do some research online and then try out a few in a complimentary or low-cost initial session (which most coaches offer) to get a feel with whom you think would be the best fit for your needs.

Here s why I think that this type of business therapy is helpful and how you and your business can benefit from it.

I pay to only talk about me and my business

I m an advisor — it s the role I play in life. That role is so prevalent that for a while, my nickname was Lucy (a la The Dr. Is IN from the Peanuts cartoon). Personally and professionally, I give advice to solve other people s problems.

This means that most of the time, I am not focused on or talking about my development.

By paying a business coach, I get, for a full-hour at a time, to talk about and focus on nothing other than me, my problems, my opportunities, my goals and did I mention me? It forces me to schedule time to work on my own business, time that I would likely have spent helping someone else. This discipline has been invaluable in morphing my professional life and growing my business endeavors.

Additional business knowledge

While I do have many friends who would oblige listening to me if I asked, many don t understand business. So, their help isn t so helpful in problem solving. Having a savvy business person in my corner gives needed perspective, such as seeing the forest through the trees, so to speak, from someone whose input is relevant.

Consistency and history

Having a history of working together allows my coach to see patterns or to reference things and opportunities that I have mentioned in the past that I may have overlooked or even forgotten, but that could be helpful in the present and the future.

No BS

Because my coach is a paid advisor and not a friend, he will call me on the few occasions where I need to be called out. Friends, family and even colleagues are often hesitant to do this because they have a multi-faceted relationship with me and want to keep up the warm fuzzies in our interactions. The coaching relationship is aligned around helping me to succeed, which gives my coach more freedom to be honest and helpful.

No judgment

On the other side of the coin, I am also brutally honest with my coach, because I know that there is no judgment. I don t have to worry about hurting someone else s feelings or being vulnerable. Not that I am one to really be anything other than brutally honest, but I still feel like I have more liberty to deep-dive into the nitty-gritty of my moods, challenges, etc. because I know that he will help me to work through those, without having to worry about it making family dinner awkward.

So, whether you are seeking discipline, a forum to vent or even a sanity check without judgment, I recommend that you invest in a business coach to help your business get to the next level.

Instagram will let you run a business profile if you have a Facebook Page

Staff Writer, Macworld

Soon, business owners will be able to tap into new tools on Instagram, as long as their business has a Facebook Page.

On Tuesday, Instagram introduced a set of new features to allow business owners to better engage with customers using Instagram. These new business tools include official business profiles, analytics, and the ability for business owners to create sponsored posts directly in the Instagram app.

“With so many companies using Instagram, and many people on the platform interacting with them, there was a desire from our business community to do more. So we listened. And, after hundreds of interviews with businesses, three key needs became clear—stand out, get insights and find new customers,” reads the Instagram for Business blog post announcing the new features.

Instagram’s new Insights for businesses.

According to TechCrunch. however, in order to qualify as a business on Instagram and be able to use these new features, your business will have to have an official Facebook Page.

“In doing that, it gives us the payment credentials, as well as if they want to pre-populate some of the information like their street address, the phone number, and the website,” Instagram’s Global Head of Business and Development James Quarles told TechCrunch.

Once an Instagram account gets recognized as a business profile, they can include a Contact button so followers can reach out via calling, texting, or emailing. Instagram says that this new feature will make it easier for business owners to reply to their customers’ concerns because right now a lot of valid feedback gets lots in the comments section. With an Instagram business profile, you can also include directions to your retail location, as well as access insights (analytics) and create promoted posts.

As with Facebook posts, business owners will be able to promote a photo after it has been posted and turn it into an ad. They will be able to include a call-to-action button, select a target audience (or get Instagram’s analytics to suggest an audience) and pick how long the photo should be promoted.

According to Instagram, these new business tools will begin rolling out in the next few months in the U.S. Australia, and New Zealand, and they will be available worldwide by the end of the year.

Boston Criminal Lawyer – Suffolk County Criminal Defense Attorney – Urbelis Law, LLC #urbelis

Boston Criminal Lawyer

Urbelis Law, LLC is a Boston-based criminal defense law firm representing individuals and businesses throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We also handle all federal criminal matters in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Our firm is dedicated to not only understanding the facts and circumstances of your legal matter, but learning about you as a person. Our Boston criminal lawyers recognize that your case may have far-reaching collateral effects beyond what happens in court, and we customize our defense strategy based on your specific needs. If you want us to take it all the way to trial, we are more than willing to do so. In fact, our record demonstrates that we obtain “Not Guilty” verdicts on 90% of the cases we bring to trial. Of course, every case is unique. If the anxiety of your pending criminal matter is interfering with your ability to work or continue with your day to day life, or if your case would benefit from a resolution prior to trial, we will do everything in our power to reach the best possible outcome. We are here to listen to your situation and always provide a free initial consultation. Since many arrests and criminal matters arise during non-business hours, we are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The sooner you contact our office, the sooner we can fight for you.

From relatively minor misdemeanor offenses to major felonies, the Boston criminal attorneys at Urbelis Law have extensive experience handling every type of criminal matter in Massachusetts. In addition to our highly successful trial practice, we help clients navigate the ins and outs and potential collateral effects of their cases. We will handle an RMV hearing stemming from a misdemeanor criminal charge with the same vigor employed during a Sex Offender Registry Board matter as the result of a felony sexual assault charge. In addition to fully advising you of the strengths and weaknesses of taking your case to trial, you will always be apprised of your options short of trial (working out a deal), the consequences of your decisions, and the collateral effects associated with all potential outcomes. All of your bases are covered, and you will never be left in the dark, at Urbelis Law.

In addition to vigorously representing our clients throughout the various stages of their Massachusetts criminal cases, we provide that same dedication to help prevent criminal charges before they are officially filed. Whether you are concerned about being investigated for a crime, or you have been contacted by the police who are requesting an interview at the station, or perhaps you’ve received an application for a criminal complaint and don’t know where to turn. Don’t panic. We are here to help. It is important that you contact our office as soon as you have these concerns, because these situations are very time-sensitive and must be handled before they spiral out of control. Let us help prevent or minimize the damage. That’s what we do.

Given that many arrests occur during non-business hours, our Boston criminal lawyers are prepared to provide you with a free initial consultation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you were arrested over the weekend, we are prepared to meet with you right away to answer your questions and provide you with peace of mind before going in to your Monday morning arraignment in court. In most cases, you should be prepared to retain a defense attorney prior to the arraignment to ensure that all necessary paperwork is obtained from the government and your rights are protected from the onset of your criminal case. In more serious cases, or if you are already on probation for an open case, you should absolutely be represented by an attorney at the arraignment as the prosecution is likely to ask that you either be held on bail, have the bail revoked on your open case and have you detained for up to 90 days, or have you held as a “dangerous person ” for up to 120 days. In this situation, if you’re convinced that you can’t afford an attorney, you’re doing yourself a major injustice. The truth is, you can’t afford NOT to have an attorney. With no obligation to hire us after your initial consultation, you certainly having nothing to lose by calling!

Contact our office for your free initial consultation regarding your Massachusetts criminal matter:

Anyone did the indiana state university LPN to BSN online? Or have any info?

Anyone did the indiana state university LPN to BSN online? Or have any info.

I am currently a BSN student with ISU, and I must say my experience has been great. I want too say too those who are not good at taking online classes this program is NOT for you. I am finishing up my first semester now, I took two classes LVN to RN as well as Physical Assessment class. It was alot of work, but all it takes is time management and you can get the work done.

You must have all your pre req complete before applying to the nursing program then you must complete the 4 nursing modules as well as the ATI TEAS exam. All the information is on on the ISU Nursing web site.

Kgeiger1 and I are of the same mind. Distant learning is not for everying. It is rigorous and requires committment. You are in nursing school; just because you are in distant learning does not make the program any easier. In fact, it may be even more rigorous.

The decision to enter into the program should not be taken lightly. You must have time to study, do all the assigned reading work, papers, and exams. every week. The program expects that you are a nurse, have previous nursing knowledge, and able to do the same work as any regular BSN student in the same class in the ISU campus.

Welcom aboard KG1.

Thanks for the input and info on ISU’s LVN/LPN to BSN program. I am BSN student at ISU and am just finishing my first semester. The program is very good. As others have said, it does require a lot of self discipline and use of goof time management skills. I think the eduction is very similar, if not the exact same, as what you would receive in a ‘in class’ BSN program. The only flaw with the program, from my experience, is that you must maintain your LPN or LVN license while completing clinicals. When I started ISU’s BSN program I was living in CA and working as a LVN. I received my LVN license through CA’s military challenge option, as I was a prior Corpsman. I’ve recently move to WI, and found out that WI will not let me transfer my LVN license here, because I did not attend an accredited LPN/LVN program. So now, I may not be able to continue in ISU’s program because I will not be able to get a WI LPN license. This seems very odd to me. If was not a LPN/LVN and applied to any BSN program as a generic entry student, I would participate in clinicals as a BSN student, not as a LPN/LVN. Very frustrating to say the least.

Hello,
Im completing the prereqs as what ISU wants but I am having difficulty trying to find a proctor for exams. Does anyone know of a proctor service that is provided in California?
BTW, its great to hear that you are enjoying the program so far, gives me confidence that I am going in the right direction. I also had distance learning in the past and am very comfortable with it.

Merkel: Europeans now have to fight for their own future #politics, #merkel: #europeans #now

#

While campaigning, Merkel says Europeans can’t ‘completely’ rely on US, others

Steffen Seibert, Merkel’s spokesman, addressed the comments at a Monday news conference in Berlin.

“The chancellor’s words stand on their own,” Seibert said. “They were clear and comprehensible.”

Nevertheless, Seibert said Merkel remained “a deeply convinced trans-Atlanticist.”

“Those who have accompanied Chancellor Merkel journalistically for a long time know how important the German-American relations are,” Seibert said. “They are a pillar for our foreign and security policy and Germany will continue to work on strengthening those relationships. Second point: Chancellor Merkel has said before that Europe has its fate in its own hands.”

Wary meeting

Trump failed to reassure European leaders about his commitment to combating Russian aggression with his remarks at NATO headquarters in Brussels.

The speech, delivered last Thursday resurfaced questions about Trump’s position toward Russia and drew attention again to the federal investigation in Washington.

In the address he pointedly instructed member nations to increase their defense spending.

I will make my final decision on the Paris Accord next week!

NATO leaders chafed at Trump’s lecture, which did not acknowledge member states’ recent increases in military spending nor did it include a reaffirmed US commitment to the alliance’s mutual defense pledge, in light of Trump’s disparaging comments about the alliance during his campaign.

Then at the G7 summit on Friday and Saturday, leaders including Merkel failed to convince Trump to commit to stay in the Paris climate deal.

Trump tweeted from Sicily on Saturday that he would make a final decision next week, and the US took a separate stance on climate from the other nations in the official G7 communique.

Stark contrast

Merkel met with former US President Barack Obama in Berlin prior to the NATO summit on Thursday.

Along with Obama, Merkel has been one of the most prominent voices from Western nations countering nationalist movements of the kind represented by the Brexit campaign and Trump’s policies.

At the Sunday campaign event, Merkel said that Europeans would continue to work in friendship with the US, the UK and others wherever possible, including Russia, but stressed her view that Europeans must be self-reliant.

“We need to know that we have to fight for our own future and destiny as Europeans,” Merkel said.

She went on to express solidarity with the UK against terror, following a deadly attack at a concert in Manchester, England, last week.

If her party is successful in German elections this fall, Merkel would stand for a fourth term as chancellor. Merkel closed out her Munich speech drinking a mug of beer surrounded by supporters doing the same.

CNN’s Sara Mazloumasaki and Nadine Schmidt contributed to this report.

How Do I Find Out if I Have Car Insurance?

Updated July 05, 2016

Situations can arise where you may not know if you have car insurance at a given time. Maybe, you do not even know what insurance carrier you might be insured with. It is important to know if you have a current car insurance policy even if you do not have a claim. It can mean better rates for you when purchasing another policy, plus it is needed in order to drive legally in the US. Most every state requires proof of current insurance in order to renew your license plate.

So, how do you go about determining whether or not you are insured if you are completely unaware of possible coverage?

Look in your glove box:

Start by searching your car. In the visor, the center council, and the glove box are the most common places to store insurance information. Maybe you can locate a prior or possibly even current proof of insurance in the car. Getting your hands on this document will be the fastest way to know if you have car insurance. It should not only give you the insurance carrier’s name but also the name of the insurance agency in which services the policy. Call the insurance carrier or agency to determine if the policy is up to date.

Get a new insurance quote:

You might be wondering how getting an insurance quote will help you find out if you have car insurance now. Well, most insurance agents run a report called a CLUE report which usually tells them your current insurance carrier.

It can also tell if a policy has lapsed. Not all insurance carriers show up in a CLUE report so this is definitely not 100 percent accurate.

Tell the agent running your car insurance quote the situation. Let them know you might have an insurance policy in effect, but need help verifying it. If the agent is able to tell you what insurance carrier you have a policy with, call the carrier and request a copy of your declarations page and proof of insurance.

Get coverage information over the phone so you know what is on the policy and get the declaration page so you will have it for future reference.

Check with the Secretary of State office:

Many Secretary of State Offices track your car insurance coverage. Some states like Texas are even advanced enough to know if your policy is up to date. Call or go into your local Secretary of State Office and inquire about your car insurance. It does not hurt to ask. It can save you time looking through files of paperwork trying to find some car insurance information.

Do not be embarrassed if you do not know if you have car insurance. It is not as uncommon as you might think. Youthful drivers might not be getting along with their parents and be left in the dark about car insurance matters. Divorce or a loved one passing away can also leave people in the situation of not knowing about a lot of family financial matters. Do a little digging to find out if you have a current car insurance policy. If a policy is not in place, look into getting car insurance quotes immediately if you are driving. Educate yourself about car insurance basics.

Which Schools Have Physician Assistant Programs in CA?

Find out which California schools offer physician assistant programs. See admissions requirements, prerequisites, and school information for a physician assistant education in California. Schools offering Allied Health degrees can also be found in these popular choices.

Learn about four schools in California offering physician’s assistant training certificates. These programs are available at public and private institutions at the undergrad and graduate levels.

What You Need to Know

Physician assistants generally need to complete a 2-year master’s degree program before they can gain licensure and work in the field. Most prerequisites to these programs include having a bachelor’s degree and some professional experience in the healthcare field. Some 2-year schools do offer physician assistant or primary care associate programs that don’t result in a master’s degree. These programs still require applicants to complete up to 3,000 hours of work experience as a medical assistant, paramedic, nurse or similar type of healthcare professional before applying.

Physician Assistant Certificate Programs

Foothill College

Foothill College and the Stanford University School of Medicine jointly administer a 21-month program that trains you to assist primary care physicians. To be admitted into the program, you must complete a clinical, academic and general education prerequisite, unless you’ve completed an associate degree.

Consisting of classroom and clinical training, the program covers preventive health care, counseling, diagnosis and treatment. Your curriculum includes courses such as pharmacology, pathophysiology, infectious disease, core medicine and cultural medicine. You complete preceptorships in which you gain hands-on training under the supervision of physicians. Upon completion, you earn a Certificate of Clinical Proficiency.

  • Program Name: Primary Care Associate Program
  • Program Length: 21 months, full-time
  • Tuition and Fees: $1,551 per year for in-state; $8,391 per year for out-of-state (2015-2016)
  • Prerequisites: 3,000 hours of direct patient care experience; a grade of ‘C’ or better in specific courses like anatomy, physiology, microbiology, chemistry, algebra, cultural anthropology, psychology and English; general education prerequisites, such as intermediate algebra, humanities, communication, multicultural studies and lifelong understanding
  • School Type: 2-year, public; student population of 15,030 (all undergraduates)

Samuel Merritt University

Samuel Merritt University offers a Master Physician Assistant (MPA) program that combines didactic and clinical study; the first year consists mostly of classroom learning, while the second year is a clinical year. You may take classes like pediatrics, surgery, emergency medicine and geriatrics. You’ll also delve into pharmacology, research methods and US healthcare systems. The clinical phase includes 7 required and 2 elective clerkships covering family medicine, internal medicine, pediatric, geriatric and emergency medicine. Additionally, admission into this program is competitive with over 1,200 applying, but only 55 admitted into the program.

  • Program Name: Master Physician Assistant Program
  • Program Length: 25 months, full-time
  • Tuition and Fees: $40,017 per year (2015-2016)
  • Prerequisites: Bachelor’s degree; minimum GPA of 3.0; prerequisite courses in anatomy, physiology, microbiology, chemistry and statistics
  • Requirements: Health care experience (you should hold a minimum of 1,000 hours)
  • School Type: 4-year, private not-for-profit; student population of 1,580 students (979 graduate students)

University of California, Davis (UCDavis)

The UCDavis School of Medicine offers an FNP/PA program that explores primary care principles through didactic coursework and clinical experiences. The intensive, 24-month program explores concepts in behavioral science, ethics, health assessment, charting and interviewing. While your didactic sessions must be completed on-campus in the physician assistant program, you can complete clinical rotations in surgery, emergency-trauma and long-term care near your home. The physician assistant program includes 126.5 quarter units and will only qualify you to earn the physician assistant certificate; however, if you are an RN with a bachelor’s degree you can complete additional clinical experiences to earn both the physician assistant and family nurse practitioner certificate.

  • Program Name: Family Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant (FNP/PA)
  • Program Length: 24 months, full-time
  • Tuition and Fees: $13,164 per year for in-state; $28,266 per year for out-of-state (2015-2016)
  • Prerequisites: Bachelor’s degree, minimum GPA of 3.0, prerequisite courses in microbiology, chemistry, human anatomy, physiology, statistics, social sciences and composition; letters of recommendation
  • Requirements: 1,000 hours of clinical experience within past 2 years
  • School Type: 4-year, public; student population of 34,508 (6,943 graduate students)

University of Southern California
