Classes of this nature could tend to be dry, the instructor did a great job of presenting the information in an interesting manner. I took the course on line and they made sure that we had ways of communicating questions to the opresenter.

I had to come here to attend a 3 day course to get my 440 license for my job. Before coming here, all my other coworkers who had previously attended had tons of great things to say about this place. They said it would be especially great if we had Diana (who is the president of the school) as our teacher. Lucky for us, myself and my coworker who attended together got to be in her class. She really does a good job at making what could be a dry, boring experience into something actually funny and entertaining. She knows her stuff and does a great job at teaching thoroughly. Even has tons of funny stories to share. I learned a lot. Just wish we had time to ask more questions sometimes, but she kept us on a very packed schedule (although she was quite generous with allocating breaks). Two tips: bring a jacket, it s freezing I m here. And bring your own coffee if you palm on drinking anyway. The coffee they have in the break room so pretty bad. Even Diana herself warned us. Overall great experience and would recommend it to others

San Francisco Health Plan – Insurance – 7 Spring St, Financial District, San Francisco,

#

7 Spring St
San Francisco. CA 94104
(415) 777-9992

Coming back from an injury when it seems nothing is fair in life, the people of San Francisco makes everything easier. I moved up here without knowing what to expect but the transition was one I wasn t expecting. It s strange I have to get used to people actually helping me. Thank you SF health.

SHORT. you re screwed if you had a city MRA and did the right thing and enrolled in Covered CA (Obamacare). two stars for friendly, very sympathetic staff. LONG. staff is friendly, able to explain new Covered CA changes, and enrolled me (Thanks Kersti!); Otherwise a very frustrating and unhelpful experience. Waited weeks for an appointment, which was scheduled too late to change my Covered CA enrollment. Funds deposited by my employer in November were placed in a city general fund instead of my preexisting MRA and are not available for my Nov Dec premiums or co-pays. 2017 Benefit cut almost in half, covers premiums but not prescriptions co-pays! because I did the right thing by signing up through Covered CA. Staff very sympathetic (explained that many folks before me were upset by the changes) and offered me a printout with the DrPH, MPH phone number and email to register a complaint (evidently they were prepared to do this because of the early number of complaints). Good news is once you get an appointment the enrollment is fast, but this might change it in Jan when shit hits the fan and folks realize their employer payments are being diverted to the city general fund.

Quick to get an appointment, the people were very informative and helped me get my insurance and other paper work right after i moved back to the city.

Mood Whiplash – TV Tropes #whiplash #doctor

#

Mood Whiplash

“I always loved this sequence. I always thought of it as like being drop-kicked into another movie. I wanted the audience to suddenly feel like they were in a completely different movie. “

Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich note on the scene in which Chatter Telephone describes the way Sunnyside is run.

Fiction often has far extremes. They cover the gamut of emotion, from tragedy to comedy. Sometimes, these two will be so close together that they make the viewer’s head spin! Done well, the contrast in moods can make each emotion all the more poignant and effective. Done poorly, the contrast can jar the reader/viewer right out of the story.

Sometimes, Mood Whiplash can extend to entire sequels, where the original was funny but its sequel is rather dark. More often, however, a dark film will spawn a sequel that degenerates into self-parody and farce.

In episodic media, this trope will often take the form of a light-hearted stand-alone episode breaking up a darker Story Arc. If the work is a comedy and the trope is deliberately invoked. then it’s being Played for Laughs.

This trope often goes hand in hand with Out-of-Genre Experience. Short-term mood whiplash may be triggered by effects such as a Quiet Cry for Help. Compare Mood Dissonance. where two events of contrasting mood play out simultaneously, Soundtrack Dissonance. the musical equivalent, and Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick. when the whiplash happens midline. Shows that incorporate the Cerebus Rollercoaster are very prone to this. See My God, You Are Serious for a specific version of Mood Whiplash. Mood-Swinger is when the character suffers from this trope in-universe.

Vile Villain, Saccharine Show is a very specific subtrope of this, where the main villain is far scarier than the tone of the show would usually warrant. See Knight of Cerebus for when the appearance of a Big Bad invokes this trope. Made Myself Sad is a (usually funny) subtrope. Also see Cry Laughing for a way it can be used. Gut Punch is a subtrope.

Ascended Fridge Horror can often be a source of this, by glossing over the dire implications of something one moment and then exploring them the next.

Not to be confused with Dastardly Whiplash. If this is done in quick succession and is Played for Laughs. it’s Bathos. May involve a Smash Cut.

Sometimes Truth in Television. the human body is physically made to laugh after some devastating event in order to get your bodily chemicals back to normal.

Difference Between Doctorate and Ph.D.

In the academe, both a doctorate and Ph.D. are common terms. However, people who live outside the education sector can confuse or mistake one concept as the same as the other.

Both a doctorate and a Ph.D. refer to the highest distinction and degree conferred upon an individual by an educational institution. The conferment of this type of educational attainment is done by a university. As the highest level, it is usually given after an individual accomplishes both a master’s degree and bachelor’s degree. Both a doctorate and a Ph.D. focus on a single field of study or discipline.

The main difference between a doctorate and a Ph.D. are their respective meanings. A doctorate is an umbrella term for a degree studies or rank. On the other hand, a Ph.D. is a specific degree that falls under the doctorate category.

A doctorate is a program that can produce either a professional or an academic degree. Doctorate studies focus on two main categories of discipline; research and professional.
Holders of a doctorate degree are considered scholars and experts in their field of study.

Meanwhile, a Ph.D. which stands for Doctor of Philosophy, is classified under academic degrees. Recipients of a Ph.D. also employ the same professional and scholarly characteristics of many doctorate recipients. However, Ph.D. degree recipients are more into research and its related skills (writing, conducting, and presenting research).

Any kind of doctorate degree (including a Ph.D.) includes years of coursework, immense studies, and field work to accomplish. The final requirement for the degree is a dissertation, an original and documented material that tackles a particular issue or problem in the discipline. However, the presentations of the final requirement are different. In many doctorate degrees, a dissertation is submitted for review and assessment. In a Ph.D. there is a dissertation defense as well as a publishing requirement. Publication of a Ph.D. dissertation requires that the document is publishable in a peer-reviewed, academic journal.

Doctorate degrees, especially professional degrees, are optional in many industries. However, people in the academe place a higher importance on this type of degree, particularly for a Ph.D. For many educators, a Ph.D. is a must because it is often required by universities among its teaching staff. A holder of a Ph.D. can be both an undergraduate and a graduate (master) student in his own discipline and is eligible for tenure.

Doctorate degrees range from different areas of study and specialization like law, education, medicine, engineering, business, and other professions. Doctorates can also be classified as traditional doctorate degrees (the student accomplishes all the requirements of the degree upon graduation) and the honorary degree (a person who is given the title of doctor due to his contribution to the field, study, or profession). Recipients of both type of doctorates are completely different. A recipient of an honorary degree is not necessarily capable of conducting research or contributing knowledge in a particular field.

1.Both a doctorate and a Ph.D. are degrees that are categorized as the highest level of educational attainment. Both are postgraduate studies that involve many years of study and contribution to the body of knowledge in a specific field. 2.Recipients of both degrees are expected to have expertise and immense knowledge in their chosen field. The ability to do research is another important characteristic.
3.A doctorate and a Ph.D.’s (Doctor of Philosophy) main difference is in their scope. A doctorate can apply to any academic or professional degree. This includes various specific industries and professions like law, medicine, business, engineering, and others. On the other hand, a Ph.D. is a more defined degree. It is under the academic degrees and concentrates more on research and teaching.
4.Another difference is the presentation of the dissertation, the final requirement before the conferment of the degree. 5.Doctoral dissertations usually involve research that is aligned with a certain profession or research orientation. The document is usually submitted for review or assessment. On the other hand, a Ph.D. dissertation is completely inclined towards research and is required to be defended to a panel and should be publishable in a peer-reviewed journal.

Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) – not currently available

***We are currently not recruiting students for this programme as all of our supervisors are at full capacity. We will update this site when the situation changes ***

The School of Psychology is recognised internationally for its high quality research, investment in teaching, and commitment to the dissemination of psychological science to real world contexts.

The new part-time Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) programme is designed for HCPC -registered applied psychologists who have existing postgraduate qualifications in their discipline and seek an upgrade to doctoral level.

Description

The award of the degree by this route is based on the carrying out of a critical literature review, a substantial research project, and a service evaluation. The degree is available for part-time registration only and can be completed in a minimum of two years and a maximum of five years.

The degree may be commenced at any time, subject to the agreement of the supervisor and School.

Whilst a substantial research project will be required, this need not be as extensive as is normally the case for a PhD. Nevertheless, the examiners will be looking for work of comparable quality – i.e. of publishable standard.

Course of Study

The award of the degree is based on the carrying out of a critical literature review, a substantial research project and a service evaluation. These three assignments must be relevant to practice within the candidate’s profession and normally the literature review will be thematically related to the research project.

The necessary work will normally be carried out in applied settings accessible to the candidate and relevant to the candidate’s practice in applied psychology. The process of implementing the research component will include the common preparatory phases of development of a formal research proposal (including peer review), ethical scrutiny and review.

Entry Requirements and Applications

The PsyD programme is designed for HCPC-registered applied psychologists who normally have existing postgraduate qualifications in their discipline and seek an upgrade to doctoral level.

This includes in particular those who are already qualified as clinical, forensic, or occupational psychologists by means of a formal training – e.g. a postgraduate qualification in clinical psychology such as the former Leicester MSc, an equivalent qualification from another university, or the BPS Diploma in Clinical Psychology.

Applications and Further Details

Applications for the PsyD can be submitted online and should include a brief personal statement:

  1. Search our staff research interests to make sure we offer supervision in the area you want to work in
  2. Draft a brief (up to 1,000 words) outline of your research idea/project.
  3. Draft a brief (up to 1,000 words) personal statement explaining why you would like to work in this area and describing any relevant research experience, including any research projects that you have undertaken – for example, as part of a previous degree – and listing any academic work you have published or which is currently in press awaiting publication
  4. Prepare your supporting documents
  5. Submit your online application

If you have any questions about the PsyD or about supervision in the School of Psychology, please contact us .

Dr. Estrada was great. I went in because my vision is not what it was once was so I wanted to get an eye exam and have some questions answered. She was very informative and patient with me. I also had some questions on lasik but I was not a candidate for the surgery. The entire process was easy and harmless and all my questions were answered. The office is really new and clean as well.

The staff at California LASIK Center was amazing! They accommodated my busy schedule and answered all my questions. Dr. Schultz rocks. He personally re-checked all my measurements prior to surgery. Loving life without contacts glasses. Thank you Dr. Schultz =) Staff.

I chose this center over two other centers I got consultations at. The staff are professional, knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly. Sometimes they so knowledgable, they give information a bit too quickly, but they are very receptive to answering any questions and repeating anything. The customer service was great and were responsive to phone calls. My eyes are healing well, they did a great job! Dr. Shultz was comforting during the procedure. The facility is well lit and clean. I also liked that they only offer the best technology, no messing around with the cheaper alternatives. Other places give an option for older technology for a cheaper price. The included checkups are quick. I m very happy with my eyesight!

Great doctors, amazing stuff. Very professional and attentive. Clean office, no waiting time. Thank you.

Very happy with this facility. Professional staff and very informative. I would highly recommend

The staff in the lasik department were very helpful and efficient. It was very easy to book my follow up appointments and the surgery. The doctor was very patient and confident. There is nothing better than being able to wake up and see perfect!

The lasik tech has over 20 years of experience and waited for me long after work hours to come in and get tested. He was upfront in telling me I m not a candidate, but he had put in over an hours worth of time doing a manual and a machine screening to make sure. He also gave me other advice on the procedure based on the results I d be able to achieve and I greatly appreciated his honesty and putting me as a customer first.

Fabulous place. The staff was amazing. Sammy was able to schedule me for a consultation on a day they don t do consults because of my work schedule. Christina was able to clear her schedule so she can meet with me. I was able to schedule my lasik surgery within the following week. The day of the surgery went super smooth. The staff and Dr. Shultz were amazing. I can see clearly now. Thank you California Lasik!!

So happy with my LASIK results! Amazing surgeon and staff. Definitely recommend them. Make sure to schedule a FREE consultation to see if you are a good candidate.I regret waiting all these years to do LASIK, not to mention recovery time was quick and easy! By the next day i was seeing clearly and going about my daily routine! I highly recommend this place to anyone who is interested in LASIK!

Doctor of Nursing Practice

A doctoral degree in nursing from World Campus

The online Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is a professional, practice-focused doctoral degree designed to prepare highly qualified advanced practice nurses to be leaders and deliver expert nursing care and ultimately improve health care outcomes. This degree is designed for you if you are a nurse who plans to continue in a practice role, and you have already received a bachelor’s or master’s degree with a major in nursing.

Doctor of Nursing Practice at Penn State

Providing quality nursing education since 1964, Penn State’s College of Nursing, in partnership with Penn State World Campus, can help you update your knowledge and skills to meet the demands of the constantly changing health care field. Based on your previous education and nursing experience, the DNP degree will have two entry options:

  • directly from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing for nurse administrators
  • post–Master of Science in Nursing for nurse administrators and advanced practice nurses

Your online DNP courses

Built on the DNP essentials developed by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the curriculum will focus on the translation of research into practice, transformational leadership, and advanced expert nursing practice. To support these essentials, your course work will also include nursing/change theory, foundations of advanced practice, health policy, informatics, and population-based health.

While providing you with the convenience and flexibility of an online program, the online DNP will include the same rigor you would expect from a traditional doctoral-level nursing program. In order to properly prepare you for the highest level of clinical nursing practice, you will be required to attend in-person intensive sessions and complete other doctoral benchmarks. including your candidacy examination, comprehensives, and DNP project with an oral presentation.

The Penn State College of Nursing is approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Penn State’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) (One Dupont Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washington, D.C. 20036; 202-887-6791).

West Park Healthcare Centre – Medical Clinics – 82 Av Buttonwood, York, ON –

#

82 Av Buttonwood
York. ON M6M 2J5
(416) 243-3600

This review has to do with the physiotherapy treatments I received from the Rehab Plus clinic located within West Park Health Care Centre. About 10 years ago, I was being a boy and rough housing with some pals and fell a certain way causing a full posterior dislocation of my left shoulder (in lay-mans terms, I popped my shoulder 100% out of the socket on impact to the back before it fell down). I don t need to describe the pain I went through in the moments, days and weeks that followed. I had physio at the time to strengthen and correct the injury as best as I possibly could. Thankfully, unlike many other people who ve done the same, I ve never re-injured it. Touch wood. However, I ve I gotten older, I ve begun to suffer from chronic ongoing aches and pains in the same shoulder as well as tingling in my fingers and occasional shooting pains, equally not fun. I ended up getting a referral to West Park to have some physio done on my shoulder to see what could be done. After an $80 initial assessment I was put through weekly exercise and ultrasound treatments to help fix the scar tissue that had built up and strengthen the are. After about 10 treatments, I was happy with my progress and took to continuing my exercise at home. It s been about 4-5 months since my last session and while I still get occasional moments of discomfort, which given my injury is expected, the overall condition of my shoulder is much better than before. Pro-tip: if you re considering physio, understand that doing your assigned exercises as often as prescribed is as important as taking antibiotics as directed when you re sick. It s essential and requires as much dedication on your part. Thanks again Rehab Plus!

Nurses, WTF? Defensive and argumentative! Beware the food. Therapy team fun, friendly and compassionate, but if you have to stay for any amount of time. think twice. The nursing staff is completely apathetic to the patient s newly acquired injuries and deficits. Look elsewhere for long-term in patient care! M H

Pro-tip: if you re considering physio, understand that doing your assigned exercises as often as prescribed is as important as taking antibiotics as directed when you re sick. It s essential and requires as much dedication on your part.

Thanks again Rehab Plus!

Clifton Plumbing – Heating – Plumbing – 484 Washington St, Monterey, CA – Phone

#

Great company that cares about their work. Working on my house now and would highly recommend them to anyone. Great to have a company that is honest and straight forward.

A few weeks ago my shower head was leaking. I called Clifton Plumbing. They came out. The guy was here 10 minutes and said he tightened the knobs. I was charged $95 for this. After a week the shower was still leaking. I was about ready to call another plumber when the shower knobs were getting more and more difficult to shut off. Now we cannot turn the shower off. I had to turn the water off for the entire house and wait for another plumber. It is obvious that Clifton did not take the time and care to fix this problem properly. It has cost me extra time and money. Clifton does shoddy work and would not recommend them. My new plumber (who was great) said that Clifton s plumber put in too small a washer. He fixed the knobs just enough so that they worked for a couple of weeks. He then expected me to call them and say I was still having problems with my shower leaking. However, after being charged $95 for nothing, I was too smart to call him again. Clifton Plumbing is crooked. Don t ever use them.

I needed a plumber and asked for a bid to complete the work. When the bid came it had no details of work. I needed to make sure that this company would meet code and city requirements so i asked if a couple of items would be done. I was told they were not included and would have to be added to the cost. After I stated that I expected codes to be met with all work I was told that we could not work together and I would need to find someone else . It was a total waste of my time to try and work with this company.

I made a call to clifton plumbing cause my toilets where cloged they came out an looked at toilets right away super fast service they got right on the job didnt bs me at all charged me what they told me and got it done fast they are the only plumber ill be using from here on out great job chase
