    LASIKLASER EYE SURGERY

    • As soon as the anaesthetic wears off your eyes will be sore, watery, and light sensitive. This phase of the healing lasts for 6 to 8 hours until the surface layer at the edge of the flap heals.

    During this time it is recommended that you take your eye drops and if possible, sleep wearing your shields.

  • The next day your eyes will still be blurry and light sensitive. It is typical to be able to return to most of your normal activities from 3 – 7 days.
    • You may experience a fluctuation in your vision from morning to evening, and you can also expect to see halos around lights at night. This is caused by normal postoperative swelling (edema). This is a normal part of the healing process and may take several weeks to resolve.
  • Some patients note that even though they see 20/20, it may not be as sharp or well defined as before. This is caused by a small loss of contrast and is regarded as a minor tradeoff for acceptable vision without glasses.

    • Wear the eye shields at night for the first 4 nights. This is to prevent you from rubbing your eyes while you sleep.
  • Rest and relax for 24 – 48 hours immediately following the procedure.

  • A cold cloth gently placed across the eyelids for the first 24 – 48 hours will help greatly with comfort.

  • Prepare to take 3 – 7 days off
    from work.

  • Tylenol and Aspirin may be used for discomfort.

  • Eye drops and antibiotic drops as prescribed by your surgeon.
    • Do not rub your eyes.

  • Avoid getting soap or shampoo near eyes.

  • Avoid dusty and/or smoky environments for 1 week.

  • Avoid pools, hot tubs, saunas and water sport activities for 1 week.

  • Refrain from activities that could result in a direct blow to the eye for several months.

  • Refrain from driving for the first 3 – 7 days until you have achieved 20/40* vision correction.

  • Eye make-up must NOT be worn for 1 week postoperatively.

  • Watching TV, reading and computer use will strain your eyes. These activities should be done in moderation for the first few days following the surgery.
  • * This is the legal requirement in most jurisdictions to operate a vehicle without corrective lenses.

    Filing a Consumer Complaint

    We want to hear from you. The Attorney General s Office welcomes complaints from citizens on a large variety of matters. If you have experienced a problem, we want to hear from you! Depending on your concern, you should send us either the Consumer Assistance Request Form or the Fraud Report Form (see form descriptions below).

    Asking for Help

    Download the Consumer Assistance Request Form if you need help with a consumer problem and would like the Attorney General s Office to contact the organization on your behalf.

    When we receive your Consumer Assistance Request Form stating your complaint, we will review it and determine what assistance we may be able to provide to you. In some cases, we may be able to help resolve a problem by contacting an organization for you. In other cases, we may also assist you in locating other government agencies that can best address the problem.

    Reporting Fraud

    Download the Fraud Report Form if you would like to report a fraud or scam. (If you have been victimized by a crime, you should contact your local police or sheriff s department and county attorney. The Minnesota Legislature has given these agencies the authority to investigate and prosecute criminal matters.)

    Information we receive from citizens helps us to identify potential violations of Minnesota law and new problems occurring in the marketplace. In some cases, information from citizens may help us build lawsuits against companies that we determine have violated our state s laws. In other cases, your information may help us inform the public about emerging scams or problem areas. If you have experienced a consumer problem that doesn t seem right, we would like to hear about it. Even if we have already started a lawsuit, reports from consumers may provide important evidence for our case.
