Certified in Healthcare Human Resources

CHHR status provides both internal and external rewards. CHHRs enjoy the pride of recognition of being among the elite in a critical field of healthcare. And CHHR is a premier credential based on a sound assessment that provides distinction in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

The CHHR Program has three components:

  • Eligibility requirements that are a blend of education and healthcare-specific experience, and profile the individual who is likely to be successful on the Certification Examination
  • A 110-item multiple-choice Certification Examination that tests tasks that are performed regularly in practice and are considered important to competent practice. 100 items are scored; 10 are pretest items used to collect data
  • A renewal requirement. Certification is valid for three years at which time it must be renewed through retaking and passing the Certification Examination or documenting 45 contact hours of continuing professional education

As the industry and job responsibilities evolve, test questions need to be revised to keep the exam current and relevant. These revisions are based on a job analysis survey completed by a large number of ASHHRA members.

The CHHR Examination Resource List contains a list of publications and websites that candidates may find useful to prepare for the Examination. Click here for the listing.

Candidate Handbook and Application The CHHR Candidate Handbook and Application contains eligibility requirements, a complete content outline for the Examination, sample test items, instructions on applying for the Examination, and an application. Download the pdf file of the CHHR Candidate Handbook and Application (24 pages), or request a copy from AMP at 888/519-9901.

The CHHR Self-Assessment Examination is an online study tool that parallels the CHHR Certification Examination in format, content and cognitive levels. Development of the CHHR SAE was supported by TIAA.

To see some sample questions representative of those on the CHHR SAE, complete the CHHR SAE Demo. If you are already certified, complete the CHHR SAE for five (5) hours reportable toward CHHR Certification renewal requirements.

Buying a Car: How Do You Add Insurance If You Buy Over the Weekend?

#

Buying a Car: How Do You Add Insurance If You Buy Over the Weekend?

Even if you’re sure that you’ve considered everything when you’re buying a car, it’s easy to forget about a few small items. One example is insurance. Sure, you probably know which insurance company you’re going with, but how do you add a car to your policy if you’re buying it over the weekend? Since many dealers don’t let drivers take home a new car without proof of insurance, this minor issue may possibly prevent you from driving home in your brand-new car. Fortunately, we have a few tips to make sure that doesn’t happen.

Check Your Policy

Before you start thinking about how to add your new car to your insurance policy, we suggest checking the terms of your current policy. For many drivers, a newly purchased vehicle is automatically covered for a certain number of days before you ever add it to your policy, precisely to account for situations like this.

Before you visit a car dealer, we suggest asking your insurance agent if your policy has such a clause. If he or she tells you that it’s OK to buy a new car and add it to the policy later, you may want to get this in writing so you can prove to the dealer that leaving the lot without proof of insurance isn’t a problem. If you choose to go this route, however, we strongly suggest that you call your agent as soon as he or she opens his office on the next business day, since many drivers — and even law enforcement officers — can be unfamiliar with this rule.

It’s also important to note that the dealer may not let you leave with your new car just because your insurance company offers a grace period for adding a new vehicle to your policy. This is especially true if the dealer helped you secure financing, since it’s likely that the dealer or the dealer’s bank will want to verify insurance rather than trust that you’ll add it when your agent’s office opens on Monday.

Add It Before You Buy

Yes, it’s possible to add a new car to your insurance policy before you sign the papers. Here’s how: Call your insurance agent the Friday before you buy the car and provide him or her with all the details. This will include the vehicle identification number (VIN), the purchase price and various other important items, including the policy’s effective date. Be sure to set this for the date you buy the car, and you’ll be ready to go.

Of course, you’ll need to know all these details in order to add the car to your policy, meaning you’ll have to be completely set on the exact car you’re buying before you call your agent. As a result, we don’t recommend using this strategy if you haven’t reached an agreement with the dealership, as you don’t want to be locked into a certain vehicle before completing negotiations.

Call the Hot Line

There’s one last resort for drivers interested in taking home their new car the weekend they buy it. Knowing that many shoppers interested in buying a car do so over the weekend, most insurance companies have hot lines (typically using toll-free phone numbers) that allow you to add a car to your policy over the weekend. The downside: If you call the toll-free number, what do you do about the agent you usually work with?

The good news here is that you can usually call your agent when he or she opens on Monday and explain the situation. Typically, they’ll be able to easily access your files, allowing them to transfer the car to your normal insurance policy.

While buying a car can be a stressful process, insurance doesn’t have to be. Our tips ensure that you’ll always be able to drive home happy — and fully insured — in your new car, even if you buy it on a weekend.

( Click to download certificate )

TransPerfect Linguist Certification Program

While various professional groups and organizations have historically provided credentials for professional linguists, none of these addressed critical elements of linguist performance like subject-matter expertise and overall competency — so TransPerfect introduced the TransPerfect Linguist Certification (TLC) program. The TLC program was the first comprehensive system to assess linguist skill in the areas that matter most to clients.

Document Translation

While TransPerfect today is a diversified business solutions organization, our birth in 1992 was as a pure-play document translation service. Ever since, we’ve been the industry pioneer driving the level of quality and service increasingly higher. TransPerfect was the first major language services organization certified to both ISO 9001 and ISO 17100 as well as the first to offer a subject-specific certification program to assess both linguistic competency and industry knowledge.

No other language services provider can offer the capabilities that TransPerfect does to meet your multilingual challenges:

  • Rush Turnaround Times
  • High-Volume Requests
  • Highly Technical Materials
  • Certified Documents

Patent Translation

In an increasingly competitive global marketplace, expeditious translation and validation of patents can mean a difference amounting in millions of dollars in revenue. Regularly working with many of the world’s top law firms, as well as the majority of Fortune 500 legal departments, TransPerfect is recognized for our unsurpassed patent translation turnaround times and unparalleled expertise. With over 45,000 patent documents translated, TransPerfect has the knowledge and understanding that only an experienced firm can offer.

Patent translation requires more than just familiarity with a particular language. The TransPerfect Linguist Certification (TLC) Program was designed to ensure that each project is handled by a professional linguist with expertise in the given discipline. TransPerfect provides you with access to thousands of language and subject-area specialists, including linguists with advanced degrees in fields such as:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Engineering
  • Physics
  • Computer Sciences

Machine Translation

For companies that face extremely high volumes of text, extremely fast turnaround requirements, or both, machine translation can potentially serve as a viable option. On its own, current machine translation technology can’t produce the same level of quality as a human translator. However, depending on time constraints, cost requirements, and end-use, the machine translation process can be customized with the ideal combination of terminology glossaries, translation memory technology. optical character recognition (OCR), and post-translation proofreading by human linguists.

Please contact us to learn more about our machine translation and to talk with our client service team to determine if machine translation is a potential solution for your needs.

To learn more about TransPerfect’s approach to machine translation, we invite you to download our
Machine Translation White Paper .

CAT Tools

TransPerfect utilizes leading computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools to facilitate reuse of previously translated content stored in translation memory (TM). TM helps organizations cut costs and timelines while improving overall translation consistency, and the benefits in these areas grow over time as TM assets grow and are augmented by tools including GlobalLink TM Server and GlobalLink Term Manager, which centralize TM assets and manage terminology glossaries, respectively.

Translation Management Technology

TransPerfect’s GlobalLink translation management technology is a suite of modular applications designed specifically to alleviate manual project management burdens associated with the translation process. By streamlining workflows, giving stakeholders direct access to project status reports, managing review processes, and maintaining audit trails, GlobalLink simplifies the entire translation process, from submission to release. The end result is improved translation quality, expedited timelines, decreased workloads, and significant cost savings, which could potentially total in the millions of dollars.

ONC EMR / EHR Certification

What is EHR Certification?

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) Health IT Certification Program is a voluntary certification program established by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT to provide for the certification of health IT standards, implementation specifications and certification criteria. In order to capture and share patient data efficiently, providers need an EHR that stores data in a structured format. Structured data allows patient information to be easily retrieved and transferred, and it allows the provider to use the EHR in ways that can aid patient care. Certified EHR technology gives assurance to purchasers and other users that an EHR system or module offers the necessary technological capability, functionality, and security to help them meet the meaningful use criteria.

We’re ONC Certified as a 2014 Meaningful Use Complete EHR

Practice Fusion has partnered with Updox to provide the Direct messaging capability. The Practice Fusion EHR is certified according to the criteria in 170.314(f)(2) transmission to immunization registries and 170.314(f)(3) transmission to public health agencies – syndromic surveillance. Presently Practice Fusion is connected with all public health states and regions for submission of immunization data, however, is not currently connected with any states or regions for syndromic surveillance. In order to submit data for syndromic surveillance, the provider can download the syndromic surveillance file and upload it to the appropriate public health registry manually.

With the changes to the Certification Guidelines with 2014 Release 2 in October of 2015, and the updated CMS guidelines for Objective 10 for 2016 eligible providers are required to submit clinical data to 2 of 4 available options within the objective. This includes submitting data to Immunization, Syndromic Surveillance, Cancer and Specialty registries. Given that Practice Fusion is only certified for the first two items (Immunizations and Syndromic Surveillance), providers are limited to using the other certified features for manually creating clinical summaries in either 170.314(b)(7) data portability or 170.314(e)(2) clinical summaries and then manually transferring those documents to the cancer or specialized registries. Alternatively, the provider could use the referral features to send a referral summary document to a registry that is enabled with a DIRECT address according to the 170.314(e)(1) transfer of care certification requirements.

The AOCNS ® Test Content Outline includes eleven major subject areas, each with a percentage assigned to it. Many nurses who have passed the test tell us the Test Content Outline was essential in helping them know what areas to study. Remember, only generic drug names are used on ONCC tests. Once you pass the exam, your certification is valid for four years.

AOCNS ® candidates should allow 4–6 weeks following application to receive their Authorization to Test (ATT), which will confirm eligibility to test and contain the information needed to make a testing appointment. Note: If you’re eligible to test, you’ll receive an Authorization to Test (ATT) within 4 weeks of applying. This ATT will open an almost-immediate 90-day testing window. You must take the test within that 90-day window.

Important Notice About AOCNS® Certification

ONCC will stop offering the AOCNS® examination in 2017. The last day to take an AOCNS® test will be December 31, 2017. Nurses who are AOCNS®-certified, or who become AOCNS®-certified before the end of 2017 may renew the credential by professional development points (renewal Option 1). For more information, read the ONCC Press Release .
