What is the Standard Business Card Size?
Imagine yourself at a job fair or conference with countless people handing you their business cards. At the end of the time you will have a tidy stack of cards that no matter how creative and attractive, just have to be tossed. But wait! Here’s one that sticks out and demands attention, it’s not the standard business card size but is a square business card.
Business cards designs in these modern times are abundant and unique, one of the surefire ways to attract even more attention with your business card is to choose a nonstandard business card size. Unusual business card sizes and shapes and the attention they attract is almost always worth the extra few dollars that you will spend on odd-shaped cards.
The standard business card size is 3.5 by 2 inches. That said there are a plethora of card shapes and sizes out there from the micro-business card at just 1 by 3 inches, to a square business card which adds height.
A huge part of landing any job or attracting the attention of the client is how you present yourself and don’t lie to yourself by thinking that your business card is not an integral part of that presentation. Though many people may not know it, they often have a window of about 10-15 seconds in which their card will either attract the eye of the person viewing it, or whether they will dismiss it and discount you as non-essential to their business. Though business card size isn’t entirely what will land you the job or account, it is something that will help extend that 10-15 seconds to the fullest and help give you the attention that you need to gain a callback or chance to prove that you are what the company needs.

Photoshop Print Design Tutorial
Design Business Cards in Adobe Photoshop
This tutorial will guide you through the process of designing prints in Photoshop as well as providing press-ready templates to get you started.
Once finished, upload your files to order high quality business cards!
Table of Contents Step 1. Download a template.
Step 2. Inspect template understand bleed.
Step 3. Verify color mode and resolution.
Step 4. Create your designs.
Useful Tips. Save often and print your designs.
Step 5. Flatten image discard hidden layers.
Step 6. Save as TIF.
Step 7. Place your order.
Download one of these pre-formatted templates and open it in Photoshop:
Right Click Save Link As
Familiarize yourself with the template by learning what the colored lines mean.
These rules apply to all products, reguardless of size or shape.
The PINK lines are called cut/trim lines. The cut lines show where your prints will be cut away from the much larger sheet of paper it was printed on. This ensures color all the way to the very edge of your cards. This method is called full bleed.
The BLUE lines are called the safety lines. Anything outside these lines run the risk of being cut off. Although the cutting machines are very accurate, staying inside of this area ensures that important text/graphics won’t be chopped off. It also helps make your card more readable by provider further separation of text and edge of the finished print. Your background colors/images MUST extend past the PINK cut lines!
Keep all your non-background text, logos, pictures, etc. inside of the BLUE safe area!
Verify that your design is in CMYK color mode and at 350dpi resolution.
This is very important as we will not be able to print your design if these settings are not correct.
Image Mode CMYK
Image Image Size Resolution: 350 pixels/inch
Now you are ready to begin the design phase. It’s up to you to decide what you want the card to look like. Start experimenting and use the different tools & techniques to get the look you desire.
Create separate files for each side if you wish to have printing on the back.
Looking for something to give you that creative boost?
Browse through thousands of easy-to-follow tutorials to create some really impressive effects in Photoshop. Experimenting with these tutorials is how I learned to use Photoshop without taking a class or buying those thick expensive “How To” books.
The Inkjet Test: Throughout the design process I suggest printing your creations on your inkjet printer directly from Photoshop. Use glossy photo paper if you have it. This will give you a good idea how your card will look as far as sizing goes. If your text looks small when printed on your inkjet, it will be too small when printed by our presses.
I suggest using the highest resolution print option (photographic quality) that is available on your printer. No adjustments to sizing or placement will be needed. The design should print on the paper at the actual finsihed size.
Remember the full bleed process will trim your cards down to normal size.
You never know when your computer may crash or lock up. Loosing work you’ve spent hours on is very disheartening. While you are working on your file, save as a .PSD to preserve your layers within the design.
After saving as a .PSD flatten the layers in your image. If any layers are hidden, discard them.
Layer Flatten Image
Discard Hidden Layers? OK
With all layers flattened, you can now save your image out as a press-ready .TIF file.
File Save As Format: TIFF (*.TIF; *.TIFF)
Upload your newly created files for high quality printing delivered to your door!

Business Card Printing Reviews
Why Use Online Business Card Printing?
The top performers in our review are Elite Flyers. the Gold Award winner; Jukebox Print. the Silver Award winner; and 4Over4. the Bronze Award winner. Here’s more on choosing a service to meet your needs, along with detail on how we arrived at our ranking of 10 services.
While everything is going digital these days, a good business card is still a viable way to get your business noticed. The more flashy, innovative and creative your card, the less likely it is to be tossed into the proverbial pile of business cards and forgotten. While there are many business card printing services to choose from, the companies we reviewed stand out with their large selection of design tools, superior quality, and various printing and finishing options that help you create a custom business card that stands out from the rest.
In addition to business card printing services, be sure to check out our reviews on business card scanners that you can use to scan cards to a desktop program for easy access later on. While all of the business card printing services on our lineup offer other promotional business items and office supplies, our review of online printing services delves into more detail about the quality and vast selection of promotional items you can purchase from these companies. For more information about these companies, read our articles on business card printing services and other business-oriented services.
While both offset printing and digital printing create quality products, a good rule of thumb to remember is that offset printing is preferable for specialty colors and for applying certain finishes, such as gloss and ultraviolet (UV) varnishes. Digital printing is a good option for small projects.
Using an online design tool, you can either create your own business card designs, use a pre-designed business card template or choose from a variety of themed business cards to use as your own. After you have created a card that represents your business, you can view a proof of what the finalized cards will look like and then order them from the printer. Each service offers a variety of paper types, finishes and printing options.
Business Card Printing: What We Evaluated, What We Found
When choosing an online business card printing service, consider the service’s printing process, design tools and selection. These features greatly influence the quality of both the service and the product you will receive.
For our evaluation, we compared sample business cards from each of the services on our lineup, noting the quality of the ink, paper strength, finish and selection available from each company.
All of the companies sent a variety of business cards, ranging in paper type, weight and finish. Some even sent samples of other print materials. We evaluated a standard cardstock business card with a high-gloss finish. We assessed the ink quality of those cards, awarding business cards with deep and vivid colors a higher score.
The best business cards have finishes that make them stand out, such as gloss, UV spot finishing and foil stamping. We looked at a standard business card printed on 14-point cardstock with gloss coating and awarded the services that offered the most durable, shiny and high-quality images a higher print-quality score.
While our top-rated business card services offered the best quality, the difference in the quality of the ink, paper or finish from one company to the next was minimal.
Quality of Service
To determine our overall quality of service score, we evaluated how easy it was to navigate the company’s website, the online design tools it offers as well as customer service before, during and after our cards were shipped.
Most of the websites are easy to navigate and offer several business card designs you can browse through. However, we found that some services do not display any designs on their website. Instead, you have to open the design tool and browse through stock images or designs to see what types of business cards you can create. These services also typically charge an additional fee to use those designs and stock images.
Each service has an online design tool you can use to either design your own business card or personalize a pre-existing one. However, our top-rated business card services, such as GotPrint. offer superior design tools with advanced features that help you make high-quality business cards.
If you prefer using your own design program, each of the business card services on our lineup give you the option of uploading your finished project for printing. Each service has its own file formats it accepts. These requirements can be found on our matrix, on the service’s website or by contacting its support personnel.
When reviewing online business card companies, we considered the turnaround time, or how long it takes for your cards to arrive after you place your order. Most companies offer a 24-hour turnaround time for rush orders. However, orders generally take a few days to ensure every detail of your card is perfect before it goes to press.
We awarded companies that sent confirmation emails about our order and shipping details a higher score, since this was not standard. There were several companies we had to contact for updates about our order since they did not send out confirmation or shipping emails. Some orders took several weeks to arrive.
Our hands-on testing is designed to simulate typical, real-world experiences with business card printing services. For our tests, we evaluated the sample business cards each company offers and used the design tool to customize others. The companies had no input on our testing methodology, and our rankings are not shared with them prior to publication.
What Else Is Important in Selecting a Business Card Printing Service?
In addition to the quality of the service, the final product and the turnaround time, you should consider the selection of cards each service offers. While some companies offer cards with vivid colors, it’s not enough to compensate if they do not offer a variety of paper types, shapes, finishes or card features.
We looked at the selection each service offers, including paper type, finishes, shapes, paper weight and whether the service offers specialty cards. With most services, you can choose from a variety of materials linen, cardstock, magnet and plastic. Some online business card companies, specifically MOO. have custom services to print on specialty materials, such as metal and even food items.
While the type of material you print your business card onto makes a big difference in distinguishing your card from the mundane, each service also offers finishes you can apply to your card to help it stand out. We found that spot UV coating helped emphasize logos and made the business cards pop. Our award-winning services, as well as MOO and Vistaprint. offer several finishing options to bring your designs to life.
Business cards need to hold up to everyday wear and tear. Lighter-weight cardstocks can be flimsy and fall apart easily. Using a heavier cardstock not only makes your business cards more durable, it sets them apart from the standard card. The best business card services give you several weights you can choose from. In addition, they offer specialty shapes so you can create round, square and oval business cards.
Our Verdict Recommendations
We found minimal differences between the quality of the business cards we reviewed. However, there was a significant disparity in the usability of the design tools, card selection and customer service between the best business card printing services and average services.
Elite Flyers exceeds other printing services both in the quality of business cards it offers and its customer service. It offers a wide selection of paper types and finishes to make your business card stand out. It has an easy-to-use design tool so you can either create your own design or customize a pre-designed template. We found the service not only processed and shipped our order quickly, but they were helpful with any questions we had.
Jukebox Print and 4Over4 offer a large selection of high-quality business cards. You can select from a variety of paper types, finishes and even specialty shapes to help you create a unique business card. Both services’ design tools are easy to use and allow for advanced customization.
GotPrint serves as an affordable option. Not only is this service more affordable than all of the other printing services, it offers a good selection of paper types, finishes and shapes. We found the service offers high-quality prints and helpful customer service.

16 of the Most Creative Business Card Designs From Agencies
The business card isn’t dead yet.
As long as there are parties, industry events, and networking opportunities, there will be business cards. And it’s important that yours isn’t thrown to the bottom of the pile because of a lackluster design.
Whether you work at a bigwig agency or as a freelancer, your business card should make a memorable first impression. To help you out on the inspiration front, we’ve compiled a list of 16 top-notch business cards from agencies and designers around the world. Ranging from artistically elaborate to decidedly simple, these examples are certain to inspire your next business card redesign.
16 Inspiring Business Card Design Examples
Featuring a botanical illustration of tropical blooms and a clean sans-serif font, these business cards from Aurora certainly make a stylish first impression. The South African studio specializes in whimsical artwork and design, so it’s fitting that their business cards reflect their unique skill set. The cards were designed in-house and include gold embossed details.
In a literal interpretation of the company’s name, London-based agency Chomp designed business cards with a bite-size chunk missing from one corner. The shape of the card stock mimics the detail of their logo — which also bears teeth marks.
3) Matheus Dacosta
Brazilian designer Matheus Dacosta puts an artistic spin on traditional business cards, adding kaleidoscopic, hand-painted designs to every individual card. Each miniature work of art is sure to make a memorable impact — or at the very least, make the recipient reluctant to simply toss it.
Nymbl. a 3D design and virtual reality studio, wanted to project a more accessible, playful image in their new marketing materials. To get the job done right, they turned to UK-based agency Big Fan. who spun up a bold, two-tone business card design concept as part of their new branding. The cards feature paper cut-outs on royal purple stock.
This video production agency may get its name from a spooky folk creature. but the quality of their business card design is far from terrifying. Designed by the talented folks at The Distillery. these unusual cards put the focus on meticulously detailed, embossed illustration: a feather, a piece of wood, and a beastly skull can be seen behind the contact information. A pair of interlocking antlers — presumably from the feared Wendigo itself — form the “W” in the agency’s name.
6) Katsy Garcia
Illustrator and graphic designer Katsy Garcia whipped up this simple but effective business card concept for her own personal branding. Instead of displaying her contact information in the usual straightforward format, Garcia serves up a fresh twist, displaying hers in an instantly recognizable text message composition. The resulting effect is equal parts charming and sharply clever.
In a nod to their native L.A. Omelet created business cards centered around sleek city imagery. The photographs are artfully silhouetted by their company logo — which if you look closely, is actually an ambigram .
8) Counter Creatives
Designed to resemble a classic take-a-number ticket, this inventive business card was devised for Dutch agency Counter Creatives by designer and art director Valery Overhoff. The compact format and unconventional shape called for a creative use of space, and Overhoff manages to feature multiple typefaces and both vertical and horizontal text.
9) IS Creative Studio
Thanks to airy swipes of neon spray paint, these otherwise minimal business cards from IS Creative Studio make a big impact. The Peru-based agency has developed three iterations of these award-winning cards, increasing the breadth and intensity of the color pallette each time. This most recent version highlights everything from electric pinks to vibrant greens.
10) Confetti Studio
These business cards from Confetti Studio combine two powerful elements — punchy orange card stock and gold embossed metallics — to a create a mesmerizing and modern effect. One side of the card is completely covered in gilded speckles, while the other side displays the agency’s logo and contact information — also gilded. They fittingly call the end result “cardfetti.”
Buenos Aires-based agency Tricota found an interesting way to highlight the two sides of their business: perforated cards that split in half. Once side features information for their communications and graphic design services, while info for their illustration services appear on the other side. Each half includes a variation of their “T” logo: a typeface “T” for their communications side and and an hand-drawn “T” for their illustration side.
When this design studio wanted to give their corporate identity a facelift, they turned to fresh card stock in yellow, smokey blue, and azure. Using minimal text against a sophisticated color palette yields sleek results.
13) Claire Bruining
Graphic designer Claire Bruining developed these playful business cards for her own personal branding. Splashes of overlapping patterns and colors appear on one side, and Bruining’s contact information appears on the reverse in a clean sans serif font. The dark blue text and border adds an unexpected pop to the basic layout.
14) Don’t Try Studio
Monge Quentin, the Parisian illustrator behind Don’t Try Studio. created these lively and colorful business cards to promote his design work. Thanks to an embossing technique, the face of the cards are embellished with confetti-like brush strokes and shapes in a muted orange and blue color scheme. His name appears in a handwritten print.
The logo on these business cards for digital production studio Bespoke is so large, it actually wraps around from the front of the card to the back. A fellow New York agency — Studio Newwork — designed these cards to be both minimal and unexpected.
16) Atelier Irradié
At first glance, the face of these Atelier Irradié business cards look like otherworldly color swatches. In stark contrast to the metallic, jewel-toned gradient on the front, the back of these cards don’t even use ink — just simple, imprinted text displaying their contact information.

Looking to do a little professional networking? A business card might help, but if your company won t pay to print them, you work for yourself, or want control over what s on your card, you ll have to print them on your own. Thankfully, there are plenty of great sites that print high-quality custom business cards without busting your wallet in the process. Here s a look at five of the best, based on your nominations.
Earlier in the week we asked you which business card printing sites you thought were the best. You responded with some great nominees, all of which offer custom design tools, quality cards, and decent prices, but we only have room for the top five:

Moo earned its place with many of you for great, high quality cards and card stock, tons of designs (and the ability to customize or make your own), decent pricing, and plenty of deals with services like About.me and Facebook for free business cards. Moo offers mini cards and full-sized business cards, and you can design your cards through a great webapp that lets you tweak and customize the front and the back with virtually any text, image, or design you choose. If you choose, you can even customize your card order to include different photos or designs on each card, ideal for photographers looking to show off their work. You can even get NFC business cards if you want. It doesn t hurt that Moo reps are always a phone call away, and their printing and shipping are remarkably fast. Plus, they don t always watermark your cards—even when you get free ones.
A personal business card doesn t have to come from the company you work for. Sometimes, you… Read more Read more
Another more affordable option than some of the others in the roundup, GotPrint offers multiple card size, stock, and paper options, but make no mistake—the service prints business cards, not photo or designer cards. Those of you who nominated GotPrint noted that it s a great option if you have access to a designer or want simple, elegant, and clean business cards with a more traditional look. If you want something fancy and special though, the service does offer a number of cuts, shapes and colors, all of which are available at competitive prices. Many of you also praised GotPrint on their fast turnaround and quick shipping.
VistaPrint s doesn t offer the same customization tools that some of the other competitors do, but their biggest benefit is their price. The company was one of the first to offer super-affordable business card printing for individuals who just wanted their own cards for themselves or their businesses, usually tossing 250-500 free cards to any new customer who signs up. Even now a quick Google search will turn up deals where you can get free cards as long as you pay shipping. Alternatively, other codes will shave a hefty amount off of your order or give you free shipping. You usually have to choose from predetermined designs and layouts and deal with a VistaPrint watermark on the back of your card unless you re willing to pay, but if cost is king and free is your favorite flavor, VistaPrint is where it s at.
An independent printing company with serious attention to detail, JukeBox offers an incredible selection of card stock types, including traditional white paper to textured pulp and beautiful recycled paper options. The company even offers wood business cards, if you want something that s truly and completely unique. They also offer a wide variety of paper colors, typefaces, and more customization and personalization options than a lot of other printing companies. You can be sure that when you order your cards from JukeBox, they won t look like everyone else s. JukeBox s pricing is competitive (although not bargain basement—their approach is that you get what you pay for.) You ll have to supply your own designs though—no online wizard to walk you through the process, but the end result is that you get truly personal cards. The company is based in Canada, but they ship worldwide.
Overnight Prints, like GotPrint, specializes in all kinds of mass printing, not just business cards. They give you the option to upload your own design, use their wizard, or choose from pre-defined templates, whichever you choose. You can also choose your finish, card stock, and colors—you ll find somewhat fewer customization options here (in the wizard anyway, you can upload any design you want, or contact them for something special), but the value is in the name: OvernightPrints is committed to fast, easy, affordable printing, and will get you your order quickly without breaking the bank in the process. If you re looking for fancy designer cards they may not be the best option, but if you re looking for something traditional in large quantities without spending a ton of cash, they re worth a look.
Now that you ve seen the top five, it s time to put them all to a vote to decide the winner.
No honorable mentions this week – the vast majority of your nominations went to the five above. That said, if you have a nominee that didn t make the cut but you think really should have, don t just gripe about it below, let us know why it s better than the rest, or share some example cards you ve ordered that you think are great!
Have something to say about one of the contenders? Want to make the case for your personal favorite, even if it wasn t included in the list? Remember, the top five are based on your most popular nominations from the call for contenders thread from earlier in the week . Make your case for your favorite—or alternative—in the discussions below.

as $16,000+. Most customers stock their ATM machines with between $1,000-3,000.
Therefore, you can get started with your first ATM machine for under $3,000.
THERE ARE NO FRANCHISE FEES! You can pay off your ATM machine in the first
three months or less, and everything from then on is a profit. ATM machines can
last as long as 7-8 years or more, allowing you to be collecting money off of
the ATM for many years. At All Around ATM we suggest you start with one or two
machines, and build your ATM business up from there. You can gain a good
understanding of the ATM machines and how they work, and then expand your
business! We have many customers who started with only one ATM machine, and now
have well over 100 machines out in the field!
What types of locations do well with an ATM machine and do you find the location?
All different types of locations do well with an ATM machine, but the most important thing comes down to volume! Businesses that often do well with ATM machines are con stores,
restaurants, night clubs, bars, malls, etc. However, the main thing to look at
when trying to find a good location to place the ATM machine is the amount of
people walking into the business daily. Any type of business that is busy will
do well with an ATM machine. The more people walking through a business, the
more usage the ATM machine will get. As far as the location, you are responsible
for finding it. However, we do have a unique program at All Around ATM. We get
tons of inquires a day for businesses looking for a free placement of an ATM
machine. Often times, the business doesn t qualify for a free placement of the
ATM because the location is out of our service area and the armored carrier
costs are just too high. What we do is we match you up with any business
inquires in your area, allowing you to decide if you want to place an ATM
machine inside their location! We always will pass long these free placements to
you, all FREE OF COST! At All Around ATM, we re always looking to help out our
customers and give them new locations.
