When you return to Switzerland you will have a broad base of hospitality skills, cultural knowledge and international experience. Semester 5 will take you to the next level with strategic management courses for international hospitality organizations.

In the second internship, you will exercise your skills in administration, project management, time management and communication.

It can be done in cross-training or any department.


Age – Normally 18 years old and above. Applicants can be under the age of 18 provided they are 18 when they finish their first semester of study.

Education – A High School Diploma or equivalent. Students must have completed a minimum of 12 years of education (pre-school doesn t count), within which at least 3 years of high school education supported by an official Certificate / Diploma. Complete information on the school, including school transcript of grades 10, 11 and 12 and/or certificate of public examination with an explanatory note of the grading system should be provided.

English Qualification – If you are not a native English speaker, or if you have not spent the last 3 years in an English-taught school, please enclose one of the following:

  • TOEFL: Minimum score of 525 points for the paper based test and 70 on the Internet Based Test (IBT). The TOEFL testing code number for Les Roches is 9827.
  • Cambridge First Certificate Exam (FCE): Grade C – Please also send the statement of results with your detailed profile.
  • IELTS. Academic Module minimum Overall Band Score of 5.5 and at least 5.0 in each discipline (listening, reading, writing, speaking).
  • All English certificates must have been issued in the last 12 months prior to admission.
  • If you do not meet the above English language requirements, you have the possibility of registering on our Intensive English language program to acquire the entry English level.

    Degree Requirements

    All students in the Bachelor of Arts degree program must complete the following seven requirements 1 :

    1. Writing and Research Requirement

    The Writing and Research requirement has two components:

    Writing Component

    In order to begin to engage with the scholarly community at UBC and beyond, students must successfully complete 3 credits of instruction on research and writing in the disciplines through one of the following courses: Arts One, ASTU 100 or ASTU 101 (Coordinated Arts Program), ENGL 100, or WRDS 150. This component must be satisfied prior to the student attaining Year 3 standing.

    Students admitted to the Faculty of Arts directly from secondary school should attempt the Writing Component in their first 30 credits, registration permitting, and must ensure it is complete prior to reaching 54 credits. Transfer students who have not already completed the Writing Component must attempt it in their first Winter Session and ensure it is complete by the end of that Session or prior to reaching 54 credits. Should they not meet the above deadlines, students may be restricted from registering in courses other than Writing Component courses until this component of the requirement is satisfied.

    The Writing Component of the Writing and Research requirement may be attempted twice. Students who fail this component will be required to discontinue from the Faculty. See Continuation Requirements .

    Students who have completed a college or university-level writing course similar in rigour, content, and learning objectives to an approved Writing Component course may appeal to apply their transfer credits towards the Writing Component of the Writing and Research requirement. For further information students should consult Arts Advising.

    Research Component

    In order to contribute to the development of knowledge in their chosen field(s) of study, students must also complete a research-intensive experience. Typically, they will register in a research-intensive course specified for their major. Students are advised that research-intensive courses, normally offered at the 400-level, often have prerequisites and are frequently restricted to Majors in the discipline. Students should consult the department in question in planning their program of studies.

    This course is designed to graduate early childhood educators who are competent, skilled teachers ready to work in schools and a range of early childhood settings.

    A key feature of this course is the emphasis given to connecting theory with practice so that graduates will be proficient in developing effective early childhood educational programs that are informed by current research, policy and practice.

    Partnerships with over 650 schools and numerous Children’s Services settings allow pre-service teachers to gain experience in diverse settings, including public, private, metropolitan, regional and remote contexts working with children, families and communities.

    In addition, a distinguishing feature of this course is that pre-service teachers have the opportunity in the fourth year of their course to specialise and broaden their knowledge and skills in an area of interest. Units are also available in the degree that enables pre-service teachers to complete accreditation requirements to teach in Catholic schools.

    Practicum requirement

The Assistant Teacher Program is conducted during the final year of the course in the second term of the school year.

    Attendance requirements

    All Professional Practices are undertaken on a full-time basis and teaching students are required to give a full-time commitment to the school during the scheduled Professional Practice periods.

    Clearances and/or Risk Management Protocols Required

    To undertake a Professional Practice in a school or childcare setting, all pre-service teacher education students over the age of 18 must have supplied ECU with evidence of the following two clearances:

    A valid National Police History Check from the Department of Education WA.
    A valid Working with Children Check from the Department for Child Protection and Family Support WA.

    Students will need to graduate to be eligible to register with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA). Registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA) is required to practice in the profession.

    Graduates must meet the Teacher Registration Board of WA (TRBWA) literacy and numeracy proficiency requirements prior to graduation for teacher registration in Western Australia. Further information is available at http://trb.wa.gov.au


    Students must complete the above two units LIT1200 (Personal Literacy) and NUM1200 (Personal Numeracy). The Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia requires that all students who enrol in a pre-service teacher education course (undergraduate and graduate) from 1st January 2017 will have to successfully complete tests about their personal levels of literacy and numeracy to graduate, and therefore, be eligible for registration as a teacher.

    Students may wish to diversify their elective choices and develop a broad body of knowledge relevant to early childhood education.     Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) Boston Campus


    The Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) is a blended 16-month, full-time program that combines online didactic coursework and hands-on learning experiences. Students work closely with nursing faculty to master the core skills necessary to excel in the nursing profession as a registered nurse. The program also prepares students to successfully take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).


    The ABSN curriculum includes 67 credits of undergraduate coursework taken across 4 semesters. The majority of these credits are completed online through an e-learning platform that allows students to listen to lectures, submit assignments, complete interactive learning modules, and engage in discussion with faculty and classmates. Hands-on experience is achieved with a variety of clinical rotations and experiences in a skills and simulation laboratory.

    Admissions Requirements

    Applicants must have completed all prerequisite courses with a minimum grade of C or higher to begin the program. Science prerequisites (microbiology, chemistry, and anatomy and physiology ) must have been completed within the last 10 years. Non-science courses include statistics, developmental psychology, nutrition and a social science course.

    All applicants are required to submit a personal statement in response to the questions outlined in the Personal Statement link. and upload a brief video (no more than 2 minutes in length) addressing specific questions as outlined in the video directions link.

    The goal statement and video provide the School of Nursing a glimpse of the applicant s personality and passion for nursing beyond what the written application can demonstrate.
